How strong are the glass tubes? The tubes are made from borosilicate glass (like Pyrex) and are very strong. They can withstand 25mm (1 inch) hailstones, which are much larger than those normally experienced in the UK (you would be quite likely to be injured if you were struck by a 25mm hailstone!) See the following pictures for a general idea of the strength of the tubes, which show an 85kg Eco-nomical employee standing on a tube. Don't try this at home!
