Clear Skies Approval Eco-nomical 58mm series panels are now on the Clear Skies approved product list. This means (in theory) that grants are available for their fitting by approved installers. However, it would appear to be very difficult to obtain a grant in any circumstances, due to lack of money in the grant scheme and bureaucratic hurdles. Eco-nomical would be interested to hear from anyone who has successfully applied for a grant for solar thermal recently. Eco-nomical 47mm series panels have now also passed European EN12975 testing, although because of the current turmoil in the Government scheme they are not yet on the official Clear Skies list. They are however of identical construction, differing only in tube size.
