How hot can the tubes get?

These photos show a digital thermometer with its thermocouple attached to the heat pipe bulb of a 58mm tube fixed to the roof a stall at a local green fair.  It took about an hour to reach this temperature, and reached a maximum of 234°C later in the day.  It would go a little higher with more insulation around the thermocouple.  The temperature on the outside of the glass tube was only at the ambient temperature (it was about 22°C that day) showing the efficiency of the vacuum insulation.
